Horse Festival

Bayangobi Juulchin will organize the Mongolian horse festival
jointly with the Mongol horse association in Bayangobi tourist
camp, located in Elsen Tasarkhai (Sand Stretch), where natural
beautiful places combining Khangai and Gobi exist, in the slope
of Ikh Mongol mountain, central point of Mongolia. During the
festival, race of 5-year old horses will be held besides some
shows such as catching horses with lasso-pole, lassoing, taming
horses, and other sport shows. Also may artistic performances
related to horse, the three manly games and tack exhibition will

of Summoning Spirits of the Great Chinggis Khaan's Imperial Guards

This festival is specially organized to introduce foreign guests
to the life, culture and history of Mongolians including the Great
Chinggis Khaan, other kings and queens, nobles, warriors and nomadic
people that lived in the 13th century. This festival includes
events such as sporting games, cultural performances, introduction
to nomadic traditions, an offering ceremony to ovoo (pile of stones
worshipped) and an "Open Fire Fest". As one of the specific
features of the festival, nearly 100 warriors on horseback along
with around 200 additional specialists will participate. Various
expert, scientists, seamstresses and blacksmiths will take part
in organizing these events and contribute to the making of costumes
and other wares that will be used throughout the festival.
The
Grand Orchestra of the Mongolian National Song and Dance
August 15, 2007,
Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, 70km from Ulaanbaatar
The Grand Orchestra of the Mongolian National Song and Dance consists
of musical instruments including stringed instruments, wind instruments
and percussion instruments and will perform outdoors amongst the
green landscape of beautiful Gorkhi-Terelj National Park. You
will hear great masterpieces of classical music and the best of
Mongolian melodies at the same time. The Grand Orchestra is composed
of nearly 80 musicians performing on traditional Mongolian musical
instruments including morin khuur (horse-head fiddle), ikh huur
(grand fiddle), huuchir (two-stringed instrument), shudarga (three-stringed
lute), yatga (zither or harp), flute, bishguur (woodwind instrument),
trumpet horn, drums, cymbals and jolts.

Naadam Festival

The Naadam festival, a traditional celebration inherited from
olden days, is the biggest national event for the Mongolians.
The word Naadam means 'game'. The festival's full title is Eriin
Gurvan Naadam, which can be translated as "The Three Manly
Games". It consists of wrestling, horseracing and archery.
It is a tradition for the strongest wrestlers, for the fastest
horses and expert marksmen from all over the Mongolian countryside
to gather to test their courage, strength and coolness.

Mongolian felt festival shall present one of the wonders of nomadic
traditional technology of Mongols. You will be introduced with

Since 2004, 'World-Melody' international folk art festival successfully
organized in Mongolia by Mongolian Association of IOV. The main
purpose of this festival leads to advertise national art throughout
the world with its specific nature and tradition. Besides we strive
to introduce world culture and its specific to our people and
youngsters. Moreover, this will contribute to develop tourism
in this country. The folk art groups and artists from the different
countries will alternately participated in the festival. In this
year artists will come from Scotland, Belgium, Russia, Japan,
Turkey and Iran.
Hunting
With Eagles Festival
October 6-7, 2007,
Bayan-Ulgii Province
Riding out to the peak of the mountains each day, you will be
introduced firsthand to the ancient custom of hunting with golden
eagles. Specially, timed during the winter months, Kazakhs, in
their ancestral tradition, track small rabbits and foxes in the
snow. Kazakhs release the eagles into the wild at the age of seven,
while they still have half their lifespan remaining, in order
to ensure preservation of the species. |
