This trip takes you to mysterious sites of Gobi and Khangai mountain region.
Mongolian Gobi is famous for its unique natural formations. There are many places where dinosaur fossils, and flora and fauna not found anywhere else in the world are still found. You will trek in the most spectacular places such as Vulture Canyon, Saxaul Forest (or Ulaantsav) and golden sand dunes.
At the same time, by this trip you will have a chance to visit the historic sites from the Great Mongol Empire (13-15th century AD). You will visit Erdenezuu monastery, the first center of Tibetan Buddhism in Mongolia and the ruins of the capital city from the ancient empire and some other monasteries. Also you will enjoy riding a horse in the beautiful sites of Khangai, such as Orhon waterfall and the 8 lakes hidden between high mountains.

Day1
Ulaanbaatar City
Arrival in Ulaanbaatar; the capital city of Mongolia, transfer to hotel.
Activities: City Tour: Museum of Natural History and Zaisan Memorial

Day 2
Zorgol Hairhan Mountain
A granite mountain located at the contact of Gobi and Mountain zones. It’s steep rock walls and canyons illustrate common view of Altai mountain located at the far west.
Activities: Hiking and horse riding
Accommodation: Night in tents.
Day 3
Ulaantsav (Red Rock Mountain)
Legendary long red mountain famous with petrified fossils and eggs of dinosaur aged from Cretaceous era

Day 4
Yolyn Am (Vulture Valley)
This valley is located at Gurvansaihan mountain national park. The Gurvansaihan mountains (the Three Beauties) are three rocky hills. They belong to a mountain system dating to the Paleozoic era and are inhabited by large numbers of argali (wild sheep) and ibex (wild goat) and vultures. The canyon has steep, 200m high rock walls. A 2-3km long spring flows along the floor of the canyon. It makes a thick corridor of ice. Following the canyons to the end, you emerge into a beautiful wide valley. The surrounding mountains are home to argali, ibex and many birds of prey.
A small museum marks the entrance to the protected zone and provides information on the petrified trees, fauna and flora of the Gobi.

Day 5-6
Hongoryn Els (Hongor Sand Dune)
The sand dune stretches for an extraordinary 180 km. 15-20m high, 15-20m wide. The dune is called The Singing Dune because of its sound produced by the mass of sand moving in the wind. This sound can be heard from a far.
Activities: Visit a camel breeder family, explore the nomadic lifestyle of Mongolians, how they live in immediate contact with nature. Camel riding and trekking in Hongor Sand area.

Day 7
Bayan Zag (Rich Saxaul)
This is a Neolithic site, where the large dinosaur skeletons on show in Ulaanbaatar Natural History Museum were found. In the west it is better known as the Flaming Cliffs, so named by explorer Roy Chapmen Andrews. In the same area he discovered petrified forests, remains of mammals, and in particular the skeleton of a hornless rhinoceros, the largest known mammal in the world. Next to this site there’re saxaul bushes.
Ongiin Hiid Monastery
This is a ruin of one of the bigger monasteries.
Activities: Trekking and hiking.(watching the stars)

Day 8
Naiman Nuur (Eight Lakes)
Picturesque site of forest, river, canyon and many small lakes rich with fishes.
Activities: Trekking, fishing, and bird watching.
Accommodation: Tent
Day 9-10
Orhon waterfall and Tuvhen monastery
They are situated 60 km away of Harhorin. The waterfall was formed by a unique combination of volcano eruptions and earthquakes 20,000 years ago.
Tuvhen Monastery is gorgeous monasteries, caves, ceremony places, which built by Zanabazar (First Buddhist leader of Mongolia). It’s located at the top of mountain surrounding nice forest mountains landscape.
Activities: Visit to stock breeder family to explore the nomadic lifestyle of Mongolians. Yak riding and horse riding.
Accommodation: In tents.
Day 11-12
Visit Harhorin, Erdene Zuu monastery, one of the largest monasteries in Mongolia. Tour of the monastery grounds and several chapels with excellent examples of Buddhist iconography dating from the 16th century. Interest the ruins of Harhorin the 13th century capital of the Mongol Empire.

Day 13
Hustain Nuruu Mountain.
Visit the museum with exhibitions of the flora and fauna of the Hustai Protected Area. Drive to Hustain Pike to see Przewalski wild horses in their natural habitat (5 km).

Day 14
Early morning transfer back to UB.
Activities: Shopping and see Traditional Folklore Concert in the evening.
Accommodation: Hotel.
Day 15
Transfer to the airport after breakfast
